Java Architect (Contracting, Fully Remote)

Job Description:
Responsibilities:
Design and develop scalable, high-performance applications using the latest versions of Java.
Architect and implement solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring optimal use of cloud services and resources.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
Conduct code reviews and provide mentorship to junior developers.
Ensure the application architecture is robust, maintainable, and scalable.
Develop and maintain technical documentation for architecture and design decisions.
Stay current with the latest industry trends and technologies to bring innovative solutions to our projects.
Participate in agile development processes, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Java Architect or similar role, with a strong portfolio of projects.
Extensive experience with the latest versions of Java and a deep understanding of Java frameworks and libraries.
Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including services such as Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, and Cloud Storage.
Strong understanding of cloud architecture and best practices for cloud-based application development.
Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
Experience with microservices architecture and RESTful API design.
Proficient in SQL and NoSQL databases.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with remote teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with DevOps practices and tools, such as CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, and Terraform.
Knowledge of other programming languages and frameworks (e.g., Python, Go, Spring Boot).
Previous experience in a contracting or freelancing role.
